Benedict Cumberbatch aka Doctor Strange REVEALS his biggest regret about Avengers: Infinity War

Benedict Cumberbatch who plays Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe revealed his biggest regret about Avengers: Infinity War. Read below to find out what it was

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has managed to leave us in a state of numbness and wonderment with the ending of Avengers: Infinity War. In a shocking climax, half of the universe was snapped into dust, thanks to the almighty Thanos. Amongst the half was Doctor Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) whose sacrifice of the Time Stone was questionable but led to the foreshadowing of how Iron Man would save the world. With a magnanimous movie like Avengers: Infinity War, it would seem as if none of the cast members would have any regrets. However, this is not true!

Benedict revealed in an interview with Uproxx that his biggest regret about Avengers: Infinity War was that he could not see the audiences' reaction himself by sneaking into movie screenings. Due to the rigorous press tour for the film, Benedict could not grant his wish of going to movie theatres as he wanted to spend time with his family. He also had some work commitments to complete but not sneaking into theatres and hearing the audience screaming at that heartbreaking ending is his biggest regret from the whole experience.

"And there aren’t that many regrets, because it was a wild ride. I mean, just selling that movie by not being able to say anything. But the places we got to go – and it was very cool. I know other people who did it. I think Tom Holland did it. I know Mark Ruffalo took his children because he then FaceTimed us from the cinema," Benedict shared.

 

Benedict's wife Sophie Hunter too was left bewildered with the ending of Avengers: Infinity War. "My wife was in shock, you know? She still is. She can’t get over it. I think she really quite fancies Doctor Strange and he’s gone. I said, “Baby, he’s gone. There’s no more Doctor Strange. He’s gone. That’s it," the actor revealed.

However, Benedict is in awe of the reaction that Avengers: Infinity Warhas garnered. "People were really sucked in, but that’s great. Isn’t it amazing that stories can still do that? All the smoke and mirrors, everything we know about it, and still, it can give us that kind of involvement. It is really wonderful," Benedict concluded.

Meanwhile, the aftermath of the Infinity War will be revealed on May 3, 2019, when Avengers 4, tentatively titled Avengers: Annihilation hits the theatres.
